Mizuno Launches New JPX-800 Metal Woods

Norcross, GA (January 27, 2011) - Mizuno, the leader in golf technology and innovation, today announced the launch of their longest and most forgiving metal woods and hybrids, the JPX-800. The new line of woods, including: JPX-800 driver, JPX-800 fairway wood and JPX-800 Hybrid, use "Hot Metal" Ultimate Dynamic Stability (U.D.S) Technology, are designed to maximize both the horizontal and vertical moment of inertia (MOI), allowing explosive distance from anywhere on the face.

Uniting a "Hot Metal" face, which describes the use of exotic materials and manufacturing techniques used to increase the Coefficient of Restitution (COR) and CORAREA, with U.D.S. Technology that greatly increases the vertical and horizontal MOI, the JPX-800s deliver maximum ball speeds and greater distance, even outside of the 'sweet spot.'

JPX-800 Driver
The New JPX-800 driver features a 460cc Ti Construction six-piece design that utilizes plasma welding to provide an extremely solid feel. This design allows for low, deep center of gravity (COG) placement giving the driver a high launch and moderate spin. A ten gram internal back weight strikes the ideal balance of vertical MOI, COG depth, and sweet spot height. Additionally, the JPX-800 driver has an internal five gram heel weight that helps square the face through impact. The JPX-800 driver will empower players to hit the ball longer and straighter. The driver also includes revolutionary Ultimate Dynamic Stability (U.D.S) technology, coupled with a forged titanium "Hot Metal" face and ultra-thin crown to give Mizuno one of the longest and straightest driver to date.

"Ultimate Dynamic Stability is truly a revolution in driver design, and golfers are going to experience a noticeable difference from the minute they hit it," said Dick Lyons, VP and General Manager, Mizuno USA, Inc. "The JPX-800 driver provides unbelievable distance when you hit the sweet area, but the real difference is that even on less than perfect shots, the ball is still going to go a long way, while keeping you in the fairway."

JPX-800 Fairway Wood
The same "Hot Metal" U.D.S Technology that makes the JPX-800 Driver one of the longest and most forgiving, can also be found in the JPX-800 fairway woods, producing a tremendous amount of distance. A 1770 maraging stainless steel cup face combined with U.D.S. Technology deliver consistently high ball speeds and tighter overall dispersion by increasing stability on both its vertical and horizontal axis. This allows for shots from anywhere on the face, even outside the "sweet spot," to maintain distance, ball flight and control. In addition, the JPX-800 fairway wood offers strategic internal weighting to achieve a low and deep Center of Gravity (COG) for an easy launch. Also, an innovative 'Speed Bevel' on the leading edge maximizes club head speed through the turf. The multiple technologies, working in unison, deliver maximum fairway wood performance.

"The combination of distance, feel, and control that the JPX-800 fairway woods deliver are going to appeal to a wide range of golfers," said David Llewellyn, Golf Club R&D Manager, Mizuno USA. . "With our breakthrough U.D.S. Technology and high COR "Hot Metal" face, the JPX-800s are the most innovative fairway woods we've ever released."

JPX-800 Hybrid
Similar to the other metal woods in Mizuno's JPX-800 family, the hybrid utilizes the explosive "Hot Metal" face technology with an extremely playable Ultimate Dynamic Stability (U.D.S) design. U.D.S utilizes a multiple design technologies to vastly increase vertical moment of inertia (MOI). Coupled with the horizontal MOI, this raised performance characteristic results in maximum ball speeds and incredible distance even outside the 'sweet area.' Strategic internal weighting and Mizuno's patented "Drop Down Crown" deliver a low and deep Center of Gravity (COG) for an easy launch and optimal trajectory for long, accurate shots. Not to mention, just like the fairway woods, the hybrid includes a "speed bevel" that maximizes club head speed through the turf.

"We created the JPX-800 hybrids with performance in mind as the internal weighting delivers an easy launch at no expense to distance," said David Llewellyn, Golf Club R&D Manager, Mizuno USA. "The innovative "Drop Down Crown" allows players to adjust their lie up to two degrees, while also providing and easy to use alignment aid. These hybrids deliver in every aspect; distance, forgiveness, and precision."
