The take away

A slight forward press before performing the "little shot" is your cue to start the take away.

Even a slight transfer of weight to the front foot and then moving your weight back to your back foot is a great way to feel in sync with your take away.

So simply take your stance, move weight to the front foot at the same time perform your forward press. Then cock your wrists under and at the same time move or shift your weight to your back foot.

So practise moving weight to front and cocking your wrists and moving your weight to your back foot.

Your "left shoulder" is responsible for taking your hands to the top of your swing. The little shot practised regulary will enable you to create a very natural takeaway. I notice students who take a very rigid and almost robot approach to the takeaway. This approach is fine when learning the wrists movement and weight shifts. But the quicker you can introduce some fluidity to your takeaway the better. No stiff Boards or you wont be able to turn.

Recapping

The little shot must be played by taking the wrists under and the club head being taken back on a straight line. In the full takeway you may only be able to go back straight for about 2-5 inches before your turning shoulders will take over to create a circle for your backswing.

Your left leg should also be a bit straighter as your shoulders will have a tilt in them. Left shoulder higher than right for right handers.

Your right knee will have a slight bend due to you moving your right hand to the stationary club and fitting your body to this position. Your right knee will be kicked in a little. (Towards the ball)

Remember forward press cock, weight shift and shoulder turn, that's all there is to it.
