Top Instructors Trusting TrackMan

VedbÆk, Denmark, August 18, 2011 - TrackMan congratulates the coaches for the top six finishers at 2011's final major, the PGA Championship. The six coaches - Jim McLean, Chuck Cook, Magnus Landstrøm, Mark Blackburn, Brian Manzella, and EJ Pfister - all own and use TrackMan as an important part of their instruction programs.

While TrackMan's impact on club-fitting the world's best players has been well documented, its increasing influence on coaching and instruction is not as well-known. But over the last couple years, and due to TrackMan's unique ability to accurately measure club delivery (club path, face angle, angle of attack, swing plane, etc.), more golf coaches have been using the technology to quantify student technique where it matters most - impact. By combining the accurate club delivery measurements with industry standard ball flight measurements, TrackMan has provided instructors and their students an incredible leap forward in understanding why a ball goes where it does, translating to improved player results. Guessing or assumptions no longer need to be part of the teaching equation - at least for those using the technology.

As the golf industry sees more success from the use of TrackMan in instruction and coaching, more of the top instructors around the world are adding TrackMan to their programs. Strong evidence of this movement was on display at the 2011 PGA Championship as the instructors of the top six finishers own and use TrackMan as a part of their instruction and teaching philosophy. TrackMan would like to congratulate these men on their recent coaching success:

1. Jim McLean
2. Chuck Cook
3. Magnus Landstrøm
T4. Mark Blackburn
T4. Brian Manzella
T4. EJ Pfister

TrackMan also congratulates PGA Professional and University of Illinois Men's Golf Coach Mike Small for his performance at the 2011 PGA Championship. Small, the three-time PGA Professional National Champion, shot 12-over 292 to earn low Club Professional honors while competing in his seventh PGA Championship. Coach Small and the golf team at University of Illinois, like many top university programs across the country, use TrackMan as part of their training and practice.

2010 PGA Champion, Martin Kaymer, and his instructor, Guenter Kessler are also TrackMan owners. Kessler is also the coach for rising star Caroline Masson, who recently finished 5th at the 2011 Women's British Open.

TrackMan Performance Now Available For Tight Spaces

VedbÆk, Denmark, November 19, 2010 - TrackMan's swing and ball flight monitor now achieves our industry-leading performance with just 10 feet of ball flight - a major breakthrough for indoor golf centers, retailers, academies, golf clubs, and private home clients.

The breakthrough is TrackMan's new ability to measure spin rate in less space - specifically 10 feet of ball flight. Unlike some other launch monitor technologies that estimate and imply spin rate, TrackMan has always directly measured the spin rate of the golf ball. With TrackMan now able to precisely measure spin rate in such a short distance (driver at 10 feet), facilities with limited space can now take advantage of TrackMan's cutting-edge technology.

Fredrik Tuxen, TrackMan co-founder and CTO: "Measuring spin directly and accurately is important for a number of reasons. First of all, knowing a golfer's ball spin rate is essential when making driver fitting recommendations. If you do not track the ball for the entire flight, as is the case indoors, the results of a ball flight model will be significantly impacted by the preciseness of the spin rate entered into the model."

To illustrate Tuxen's point, imagine a golfer hits a drive with a ball speed of 150 mph, launch angle of 13 degrees, and spin rate of 3000 rpm. According to the laws of physics (and assuming a premium golf ball), the ball will travel approximately 255 yards, including bounce and roll.

TrackMan has seen other technologies estimate spin rate without indicating the measurement is in fact, an estimate. In such cases, the spin rate estimate commonly has a margin of error of +- 1000 rpm. The result: if you enter a mistakenly measured 2000 or 4000 rpm in a ball flight model, rather than the correctly measured 3000 rpm, the resulting drive distance would be calculated to travel either 276 or 230 yards- a discrepancy of 46 yards. Club-fitting sessions having a spin rate margin of error this great result in misleading and poor equipment recommendations.

For club fitting as well as practicing, being able to represent golf shot results accurately is imperative. This is why the precise measurement of spin rate is so important and why this upgrade represents such a significant breakthrough. Now, facilities with limited space can provide the same level of service as larger centers.

"We are very excited to announce this technological advancement. With it, TrackMan continues to stay at the forefront of the market in its ability to directly and accurately measure spin," says Fredrik Tuxen.
